Texas A&M Forest Service serves as the lead agency for the
state when it comes to fighting wildfires, and nationally-renowned for work in
incident management.
No part of Texas is immune to wildfire.
Statistics show 85 percent of wildfires occur within two miles of a
community.
Texas A&M Forest Service maintains a network of strategically-placed
firefighters and equipment to respond to wildfires across the state. We respond
with local fire departments, particularly during periods of high fire danger.
In addition to putting out fires, many of our programs are aimed at
building local capacity and helping Texans help themselves. We work with local
fire departments and communities and provide training and grants for
equipment.
